XCOM 2 was a rather successful sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and it’s been quite a while since we heard anything about any expansions for the game. Thankfully, as E3 is the bringer of news for new games and expansions, we learned that a huge expansion is coming, and it’s called War of the Chosen. XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is bringing new characters, new enemies, new features, factions, and more to the base game. Check out the announcement trailer down below.
It looks like the aliens have elite warriors of their own, three of them to be precise, and all of them look quite intimidating. The Chosen (that’s what they are called) are dangerous aliens, and they are on a mission to capture you no matter what. They can kidnap and interrogate your soldiers to gain information about your operations. There was one strange thing that was seen in the XCOM 2: War of the Chosen announcement trailer, and that is the addition of what appear to be zombies. Some sort of creatures have been seen in the trailer, and we are still not sure what they are and what they do, but they will certainly be a ferocious enemy.
How will they work in the game and what sort of threat will they be going to be? Three factions, the Reapers, Skirmishers, and Templars, have arisen to fight the aliens, and all of them have powerful hero class soldiers that the player can acquire. New environments are coming, more aliens, and soldiers can now form special bonds with their comrades to develop new abilities and perks, which will make them even more important in your fight against the Chosen.
The expansion is coming on August 29, and you can find out more on the game’s official site.
