Developers at Bossa Studios have confirmed in a statement that they will be delaying the release of Worlds Adrift. The team behind the game believe it will benefit from further polishing, and are hesitant to release before it is ready.
A recent blog post stated that they will be looking at Q1 2017 as the release window, as developers work on further improving the airship sandbox game. “We still have a little more work to do to ensure the game is fun, balanced and of course, optimised,” the post reads. “Therefore, we wanted to confirm to you all that Worlds Adrift will now be launching on Early Access in Q1 2017.”
Between now and the early access of Worlds Adrift, the game will go into its fifth alpha version. Alpha 5 will be the biggest alpha so far, which will provide a catalog of improvements, including a new shipyard, changes to ranged ship-to-ship combat, islands with lootable containers and the addition of Sails and Knowledge for your character.
There hasn’t been a specific date for when Alpha 5 will commence, but the developers suggest that the new build’s release could be coming very soon.
Bossa Studios might be a familiar name to some, as the studio responsible for the likes of I Am Toast and Surgeon Simulator. Worlds Adrift will take players on a journey through scattered worlds of broken islands, focusing on players’ individual styles to influence gameplay as pirates, explorers and heroes.
The physics-based MMO Worlds Adrift will release next year, sometime in Q1 2017.
