One of the greatest things a video game developer can do for its fan is to allow for flexibility when it comes to their player character. After all, the more the player has control over what they are, what they can do, and how much they can alter things, the more inclined they are to not only keep playing the game, but restart and do it all over. Because with a totally new player character to be, the possibilities are endless. This is often just the case in World of Warcraft.
Player have many races and classes to choose from and if they want. And when they decide they want to try as something else? They can make a new character, it’s that simple. But that raises an interesting question. Are World of Warcraft players loyal to their first ever character?
This comes from Battle.net user LSWindRunner, who notes that his original Blood Elf Rogue is the only character he’s ever had, and that won’t change:
“Stuck with her through thick and thin and she’s the only char I’ll do content with no matter how long WoW’s around.”
That’s loyalty, and admirable, and many players in World of Warcraft do do that. But for others, it’s not as necessary a thing. In fact, one Battle.net user noted that they not only switch characters and classes constantly (they apparently get bored really easily) but the first character they made has been “long abandoned.”
There are also some players who aren’t overly loyal to their first character, but they do make sure to keep them up to date when a new expansion comes around. So, that raises the questions. Are you loyal to your first character in World of Warcraft? If so, why? Or if not, why not? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
