There are times in video game creation when a team must look at what they’ve made and wonder if they’ve hit a wall. Have they gone as far as they can go in the current model of the series or franchise? Whether it is because the storyline has run its course, the game has become too complicated, or it’s just time for a change, game developers look at their titles and wonder if a reboot/revamp is needed. Well, players of World of Warcraft are wondering if Blizzard should be thinking these thoughts.
For on Battle.net, players like Esteros are wondering if a majority of World of Warcraft should be revamped:
“Does the World of Warcraft story need a revamp, particularly the 1-100 leveling experience?”
Now for the record, the question isn’t about a full-on reboot, because that would never happen. They’re focusing on the content that starts off the game. Also, the scaling of levels and weapons was brought into question for a revamp. To that end, a lot of players are up for change.
Naturally, a lot of players have ideas on how to change things for the better in a revamp, but just as many feel it’s pointless to talk about it because Blizzard likely wouldn’t even discuss this. Some even pointed back to past revamps and noted how bad they went.
Scaling was the thing many players agreed needed a revamp. From how you get experience, to the challenge of quests, dungeons, and enemies, and more, there’s a lot of players that think that World of Warcraft needs scaling changes on a grand level. As it stands, either you’re overpowered, or you’re underpowered, which is a big turnoff, especially to new players:
“Nothing can even remotely challenge you, then you start hitting brick walls until you overgear and get back on the zerg train,” says player Krelia.
What do you think? Should World of Warcraft be revamped soon?
