With a large game universe like World of Warcraft, it’s easy, and even forgivable for certain “real world” events or situations to not take place. After all, it’s an MMORPG, it’s not meant to be a real world, or a realistic world, it’s just meant to be fun and engaging. That being said, developer Blizzard is taking things to an interesting level with a new event called “Children’s Week”, where you get the chance to take care of someone who is forgotten by the world at large: Orphans.
That’s right, World of Warcraft is going there. Now no, you’re not going to have the option to actually adopt an orphan. But, you will have the option of taking one on a journey they’ll never forget. As for what you do specifically, Blizzard spelled it out for you:
“Talk to either Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind (Alliance) or Orphan Matron Battlewail in Orgrimmar (Horde). After that, you’ll be able to take your young friend on an adventure across the lands of Azeroth and Outland, and bring them back to the orphanage!”
So basically, you’re taking a child on a world tour of sorts, and showing them that they aren’t forgotten in the large world of Azeroth. Consider this a heartwarming experience, and a nice distraction from everything that’s going on with the Burning Legion.
For your participation, Blizzard is going to give you two kinds of rewards if you help the orphans. First, you’ll special achievements based on the things you do with your orphan. Such as taking them to battle, getting items, completed chores, etc. You’ll even get the title of Matron or Patron if you get them.
Plus, as a more finite reward, you’ll get a special pet to raise. You can partake in this event right now.
