As gamers, we have a lot of questions about games that are coming up. What will they be like? How will they be different from other games in the genre? How will certain mechanics work? Etc. While sometimes we have to wait for these answers, sometimes, the team takes the initiative to answer them. Take for example the MMO Wild West Online. This game is heading for an alpha soon, but the team thought it would be good to answer some questions of potential players. Here are the highlights.
First off, the game can be playable in both first person and third-person views, whichever you prefer. And in fact, you can even adjust the camera in some instances to better suit your style. In regards to characters and servers, once you create your character you’ll be able to freely move around the servers as you wish.
Character classes and progression was a key question. As the Wild West Online team revealed that there won’t be character classes in their game. Instead, the progression will be skill based, however, they didn’t exactly know how that would work at present. Clearly still something being worked out.
Another break from standard MMO/MMORPG tropes was about clothing. The game won’t assign stats to clothes, making it so you can wear what you want. They do note of course that weapons and certain other items will have stats naturally.
The game will be set in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, but will not be “historically accurate” nor will it depict actual people or events from those time periods.
As noted above, Wild West Online is headed towards an alpha release, and the team notes that they will try and get it out before the Summer ends if possible. Do you think you’ll be playing this? Let us know in the comments below.
