It’s always interesting to hear developers talk about their video games, because they often give you unbiased yet insightful looks at the games themselves. Especially when it’s getting closer to release, such as with The Wild Eternal. The game is coming out on Steam in just a couple of days, and as such, the team took to their blog to ensure that everyone knows exactly what it is about.

The Wild Eternal is an exploration game developed by Ilsanjo that is driven by a deep story. However, it also has some platforming, puzzle-solving, and character progression mechanics as well. You’re put into a very foggy wilderness, and asked to get out of it, or fail trying.

The game itself is set in the 1600’s in the Himalayan wilds. You play as an old woman named Ananta, who wants nothing more than to break the cycle of reincarnation that she is in and get some peace in the beyond. Upon reaching the game’s wilderness, she meets a demigod that is in the form of a fox. The fox will help you break the cycle of reincarnation, but, to do so, you must wander the forest in search of special keys that will grant you access to other areas of the forest, and potentially give you what you need.

That won’t be easy though, as the wilderness is a literal maze that is covered in fog, and you’ll have to work hard to remember where you have been, and where you are going. Plus, there are obstacles to avoid, creatures in the wilderness to deal with, and so on.

Plus, there are plenty of things in the wilderness that can actually make you stronger, and make your journey easier. If you can find them that is.

You’ll be able to get The Wild Eternal on April 13th for just $14.99 if you get the Steam early-adopter discount.
