Warframe, the third-person sci-fi shooter from Digital Extremes, held their weekly Prime Time live stream today. During the hour and 10 minute long stream on the Warframe Twitch channel, community producer Rebecca Ford and senior community manager Megan Everett announced their Cosplay on a Budget contest.
This contest was so wonderfully demonstrated by the two lovely ladies over at Digital Extremes as they sported their budget Atlas and Alad V cosplay. While there is endless enjoyment to be had simply watching these two create and wear their costumes, there is a point to this madness.
The Cosplay on a Budget contest is a promotional tool for TennoCon 2017. For those that might not know, TennoCon is the now annual convention in London, Ontario that Digital Extremes hosts for the Warframe fans. This year there will be a massive cosplay contest with cash prizes for those that wish to enter. This Cosplay on a Budget contest is just a warm-up.
The only rule for the Cosplay on a Budget contest is that participants need to have spent less than $20 USD on their costume. It can be of any character or object in Warframe and the only limit is your own creativity. As you can see in the video, pool floaties, styrofoam spheres, and tinfoil are all completely legitimate materials that can be used in your cosplay endeavors.
There will likely be prizes, though not at the scale of those promised for the actual TennoCon cosplay contest, and more information has been promised for tomorrow. If you’re interested in participating in the Cosplay on a Budget contest then make sure you keep an eye on the official Warframe website. If you’d like to participate in the real thing at TennoCon you can purchase your tickets right now for the event on the July 8th in London, Ontario.
