We all watched those gladiator movies as kids. The thing that was so appealing was that fight to the death in front of a huge cheering crowd in an arena. Well now, with Versus:Battle Of The Gladiators we can relive those childhood dreams ourselves. The game is a third-person hack-and-slash focusing on melee combat. Games of these types usually need to be fast, brutal and bloody and the trailer showcases just that.
We see different types of weapons in battle there: battleaxes, greatswords, warhammers etc. The guy wielding the warhammer was especially interesting as the hits sounded very realistic. Sounds of weapons clashing against armor and bear skin are quite important for this type of game to feel immersive. You can’t have a sword shred through armor and have it sound like someone scrapped a fork on a metal surface now can we. Netker, the South Korean developer, said that the game will feature 3 arenas at the start of Early Access, with more to come later down the line.
When it launches on Early Access the game will cost $19.99. The plan is to add new items, maps, and skills as time goes on. The developers also said that they would take player feedback into consideration when balancing and shaping the game, as the opinion of the players is most important!
