Dark and Light is an upcoming reboot of the sandbox MMORPG of the same name from 2006. While the initial release of the game came out to mostly bad reviews, the reboot promises big changes. The latest update from the official Dark and Light Twitter is that the game world is getting a major visual rework.
The tweet states that textures, scenery, and lighting are all getting completely overhauled and then gives two different examples of forested areas that have been drastically changed. There’s no arguing that the current game certainly looks better than the older comparison photos. Take a look for yourself.
The images clearly show the addition of a lot of extra foliage and some much better lighting in darker parts of the forest. The lily pads and plants around the riverbed are also a nice touch to make the game world feel much more alive. In a time where games like Black Desert are the standard of MMO beauty, it’s hard to compete, but Dark and Light is certainly in the race.
For those that might not know, Dark and Light is currently in Early Access on steam. It’s a sandbox fantasy MMORPG that promises “breathtaking landscapes, a wide variety of mythical creatures, and limitless possibilities to craft, build, and unlock over 100 abilities” according to the Steam page. It is a game that has personally been on my watch list for quite a while, as I’m a sucker for medieval fantasy MMOs, and it seems to be shaping up quite nicely.
Dark and Light is currently unavailable to purchase but has a tentative 2017 release date. Since there has been no recent information on when in 2017 it might be, we might have a bit of a wait on our hands. I suppose that prospective players will just have to be happy with the updates found on the Dark and Light Twitter and official website for now.
