Respawn Entertainment has had an interesting year in regards to the Titanfall franchise. On one hand, they released Titanfall 2 to much fan and critical acclaim. But on the other hand, their planned mobile title for Titanfall had to be shelved. Regardless, the team is looking forward into 2017, and letting fans know what’s coming. But…they couldn’t help sharing some facts about Titanfall 2 since the game launched.
First up, Titanfall 2 was in over 130 Game of the Year/Best of 2016 lists. This including not only gaming publications but also major news and stores like Amazon and Entertainment Weekly. Also, the game was named Game of the Year by Forbes, while getting the Best Shooter title by PC Gamer. High praise indeed.
On the gameplay front, Attrition was the most played game mode. Which was apparently a surprise to Respawn. After that was Bounty Hunt and Amped Hardpoint. Furthermore, the team revealed that the player base is growing, and in fact, they’re seeing a gradual growth of their daily player base. Meaning that a lot of people are playing Titanfall 2 every day. They’re happy for this, and they’re going to use this to fuel future DLC and updates.
Which of course brings us to DLC. The next batch of DLC is coming next month, headed up by the new gameplay mode Live Fire. Respawn noted how the modes inspiration was paintball. As there’s a type of match in it called Speedball, and those matches require great speed of the person, and aggressive tactics. They said this felt like a perfect mode for Titanfall 2 to have, so you’re getting it!
Finally, they noted that after March, there will be more free content, and they’re still going to work on improving the game even further. For example, the user interface is going to change via the Live Fire update because of fan request. It looks like Titanfall 2 will be set for a while, don’t you think?
