Following several rumors and leaks over the last few days, Bethesda has officially announced The Evil Within 2 at its showcase conference at E3. Developed by Tango Gameworks, the follow up to the 2014 survival horror game will release on October 13th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Led by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, The Evil Within 2 looks set to give us all nightmares once more as the director of the original game makes his return with his studio Tango Gameworks. The year 2014 saw Mikami make his debut with the studio, offering up The Evil Within, which presented a dark and twisted horror game that was met positively by fans and critics alike in reviews across the board. After a job listing was posted in Japanese for Psycho Break 2, it felt like only a matter of time before the sequel would be formally announced, and in amongst the Bethesda conference was a sinister trailer finally revealing the anticipated sequel.

The trailer that showed off this horrifying sequel was a lengthy one at that, and brought some familiar traits for those who played the original. Check out the trailer below:

As you can see from the trailer, there is some form of psychological anguish taking place for the game’s protagonist, with dark forests inhabited by the undead, burning villages and much more going on, with the narrative being driven by a rather haunting voiceover.

Somewhat rather appropriately, The Evil Within 2 will release later on this year on Friday, October 13th.
