The point of a site like Kickstarter is to allow people the chance to make their own creations, whether in part or in whole, and then pitch them to people to gain support so that they can either distribute it, or complete it. This is why video games are a very popular item on Kickstarter, as anyone can make a game pitch, do a little work, and see if people respond to it. Another unique video game Kickstarter has launched recently, one that aims to be a first-person survival sci-fi horror game, Paradise Lost.

Not to be confused with the book of the same name, of course. But what makes Paradise Lost an interesting concept is that the game aims to a different kind of horror. The creator defines it as “Cosmic Horror,” meaning that people will be afraid of the unknown, what may come next, and potentially drown in the hopelessness of their situation. This includes being able to use guns in the game, but knowing that there will be enemies that won’t be affected by them.

Paradise Lost is about a science team that was sent to research a newly discovered planet. However, when something happens to the team, an android is sent to figure out what went wrong. When that leads to the discovery that something very unusual has happened to them, a special ops group is sent in to take care of things. This is where you come in.

As the team leader, your job is to search the many areas of the planet that the team was on and look for any survivors, if there are any. As a side mission, you’re there to see what else is here on the planet and take it out. You’ll need to survive just as much as complete the mission. which you may find is much harder than you think it is.

The game is seeking $1600, and will be on Kickstarter until June 17th. If this sounds like your kind of title, check it out further and see if you’re up for supporting it.
