Suicide Squad, DC’s superhero movie about a bunch of bad guys that do some good, got really poor reviews from movie critics. Despite that, the movie made an impressive $65.1 million in the US, and they are even expecting it to make $145- $150 million on the weekend, which would make it the top-grossing opening of all time for an August release. Currently, it’s ahead of both Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy, which is saying something. The movie even succeeded overseas, as it landed $64.6 million in its first three days, which is amazing for a movie with such bad reviews.
The movie had an amazing marketing campaign, so it had a lot of attention on it, be it positive or negative. That’s why you shouldn’t be surprised by the enormous box office opening. The real test will come next week, as we’ll see if it’s as popular then.
Many fans that watched the movie said that it was fun and interesting, so we don’t really know why the critics hated it so much. The whole cast portrayed their characters brilliantly, and Jared Leto’s Joker performed fantastically, despite many people thinking he wasn’t suited for the role.
If you haven’t, you really should watch the movie, as it’s pretty amazing!
