Star Trek Online Interviews Kipleigh Brown

Star Trek Online is a game built for Star Trek fans, as you’ll be able to seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no man has gone before. Not only that, but you’ll get to have fun in the universe that is still revered to this day. You might be surprised to learn that some of the voice acting done in Star Trek Online is done by some Star Trek alumni. Take for example Kipleigh Brown, who is the voice of Captain Kuumaarke in the game. She was interviewed by the dev team to talk about her Star Trek history.

For example, she revealed that she was part of one of the later Star Trek series:

“No, I actually played crewman Jane Taylor on an episode of Enterprise.”

What’s even more interesting though was that even though she was a mega fan of Star Trek, she had to play it down because the casting directors likely wouldn’t cast a mega fan in the part. Plus, when she made it to the final stage of auditions, it was revealed that Levar Burton was the director of the episode she was to be in. Who of course was in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Her love of Star Trek started with the original series, then blew up with The Next Generation. So much so that she joined a fan-made webseries called Star Trek Continues, which has some big star power to bring it to life including Vic Mignogna (Full Metal Alchemist), Grant Imahara (Mythbusters) and even the son of Scotty himself, Chris Doohan.

Star Trek Continues

As for her role in Star Trek Online, she did have to prepare for her role as Captain Kuumaarke, mainly because she herself isn’t British. So it took some trial and error:

“And they kind of phonetically spelled it out for me, but when I prepared the accent it sounded very Transylvanian”

Eventually she got the right accent and she’s been in Star Trek Online ever since Echoes of Light. Be sure to check out the full interview to hear more from her about her character and more.
