There are certain RPG franchises that have captured the imaginations and hearts of its players over the years. Not surprisingly, Square Enix has most of them, including the Mana series. This series of RPGs has been around from basically the beginning of gaming, and it’s grown quite a following. Soon, a remake of one of the most classic games in the series, Secret Of Mana, will release. This remake will rebuild the game from the ground up, and include many new elements to the game. But, with its release, fans have many questions.
For example, currently, Secret Of Mana is only planned for PS4 and PC. Many have wondered why the Nintendo Switch has not been announced to be getting a port. Especially since the original game was on a Nintendo platform via the SNES. In an interview with USGamer, game producer Masaru Oyamada stated this:
“To kind of give background in terms of when the project started, it was about two years ago, and the Switch hadn’t been announced,” Oyamada said. “Once we had announced this particular remake title, we were very surprised to see the amount of demand and feedback we received for a potential Switch version.”
He went on to note that the game could indeed get a Switch version, but plans at present aren’t focused on that. But, it could change.
Another question fans have add is about the future of the Mana series. Will the rebirth of Secret Of Mana lead to another title?
“The reason why we’re remaking all of these titles right now is to remind people who have played the game in the past of the experience, but also to give an opportunity for the younger generation to try the series out as well. And so, the reason why I’m working on this remake project is in light of potentially making new titles in the series in the future,” he said.”
The game releases on February 15th.
