A major trend in gaming over the last decade has been remastering and even remaking classic titles for those who weren’t able to play them on their original systems. This has allowed people to enjoy games that are prized for the first time, or, enjoy them in a whole new light. One of the most recent ones, which is also one of the most successful ones, was the Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy. This remaster brought the games to a new high, and many hoped that its success would lead to a remaster of the Spyro The Dragon games.
Well, it appears they’re getting their wish. For Kotaku, among others, are reporting that a Spyro The Dragon trilogy remaster is indeed coming to the PS4, and furthermore, it could come this year. The games included in this trilogy would be the original Spyro game, Riptor’s Rage, and then Year of the Dragon.
Now, much like Crash Bandicoot before it, the games won’t just be coming to the PS4, they’ll be getting a graphical overall to match the systems 1080 graphics. You can also expected a redone soundtrack, new save feature, and potentially, some never included before content. Finally, the game is being made by Vicarious Visions, who did the Crash Bandicoot remaster, so you know they’ll do quality work with Spyro. It all adds up to a worthwhile remaster.
Spyro The Dragon was one of the characters that helped make the PS1 a hit. And then, Spyro helped lead the way for the Skylanders series, which was a major hit for Activision as well. But, fans have wanted to see him back in all his glory, and much like the Bandicoot remaster has led to rumors of a new true game in the series, so too could one happy for Spyro if the remaster does well.
