Turn-based galactic warfare will be the order of the day come December this year. Spacewars is a tactical online MMO that combines turn-based combat will real-time travel, bringing together four differing races to do battle, capture and complete missions using their own ship and avatar.
Developed for PC, Mac and Linux platforms, Spacewars will feature combat based in successive rounds, as captains of each team must delegate and allocate any points earned in each turn. Once players have chosen a particular faction, they will capture planets throughout the galaxy for overall control. There are 26 ships for all four races, each with over 100 variants and differing versions of each spaceship. Experience is earned by taking control of the cosmos via missions and battles, some of which can take months to complete.
Made by Desert Owl Games, Spacewars is set in the year 2190 as four races crave the power of controlling the galaxy and ensuring their own survival. Players will side with the likes of Genari United Empires, Sol Imperial Worlds, Ma’Alaketh Confederation and The Hive. The unique space experience will also challenge players to use and also be made wary of the surrounding environment, with factors such as asteroids and ion storms playing a key role between victory and defeat.
Spacewars will be playable at this year’s PAX West event, before coming to early access in December.
