For some video game developers, there’s nothing better than launch day. It is here that the game you have worked so hard for is given out to all. True, there is a lot of stress, as you know that reviews and fan critiques are coming. However, the fact that you made it that far is often very fun and appealing. And though the work is not done, it’s humbling to know you finally made what you wanted to. For the team at Supergiant Games, they’ve made several major titles in their past. And now, they’ve released their newest one: Pyre.
In this RPG adventure, you get to lead a band exiles on the path to freedom. However, that path will have you fighting across competitions all over the land to try and earn it. Why? Because you are in Purgatory, and nothing comes easy here. Known as the Downside, there are plenty of struggles to be found in this vast and weird world. An interesting note, Pyre is the largest game world that Supergiant has ever made.
Combat plays a major role in Pyre, as you’ll go into each “Rite” with a 3-member team, and whether you win or you lose, it’ll affect the character you choose as a whole, because “enlightenment” will be your reward. That’s right, if you lose, you don’t get a game over, and the journey will always continue until the game ends. That includes branching storylines and endings.
As if that’s not enough, the game also features a Versus mode where players can go up against friends to see how good their favorite characters are. You’ll get to pick from all 20 characters in the game, so make sure you go for your best team.
Pyre is available now on Steam, and if you play it, let us know what you think.
