When a video game company does very well on a title, they’re instantly recognized as a quality studio. When that studio then does more successful games in a franchise (or standalone games), their next titles are instantly hyped up, and everyone wants to know what they’re doing. When Batman: Arkham Asylum was born, not many new about Rocksteady Studios, but they knew them once they were done playing the game. And when Arkham City and Arkham Knight arrived? Rocksteady became one of the most popular studios in the video game world.
But…once Batman: Arkham Knight was done, the studio went quiet. Eeriely quiet even. Like they didn’t utter a word about what they were doing. There were rumors and “leaks” that they were doing a Superman game, but that’s never been confirmed. And now, the studio seems very content to tease us. Check out a tweet they made yesterday.

So, yeah, that picture doesn’t reveal anything, AND YET, everyone feels it says something. For example, why are there so many of them in mocap suits? Does that indicate that a group of characters (unique characters) needed to have animations done? There are eight of them in the picture, so…could that mean the Justice League? It’s certainly possible, but whether it actually happens remains to be seen.
Since the end of the Rocksteady Batman games fans have been clamoring for the studio to do another DC Comics character. Superman was a big one because Superman has never had a good video game. Wonder Woman and Flash were also considered because fans felt they deserved a game starring them. The speculation is rampant, but what does it all mean?
Guess we’ll have to wait and see what Rocksteady does.
