Given the nature of Rocket League, it seemed to make sense that a line of toys would be the next logical step for the brand going forward. After all, who doesn’t want to bring the soccer-car game to life and indulge in some childhood glories?
That being said, the line that has been released, which is available on Toywiz.com, is facing criticism for not living up to their potential. There has been complaints that the cars are in fact low in quality, which was an issue raised on Reddit by KAKAKA17:
“They had so much more potential imo, instead of making these low quality for the cash grab.”
The user continued to suggest that Psyonix should have collaborated with Hot Wheels, which not only makes sense from a quality perspective, but would also tie in with the Hot Wheels content available in the actual game.
NoTwoPencil did raise the fair point that Psyonix aren’t the biggest of companies, and that suggesting such collaborations is easier said than done from a financial perspective:
“It makes a lot of sense to test the waters with a cheap, low risk gimmick and see how it goes. It’s incredibly easy to play armchair manager when it’s not your money on the line.”
I would be tempted to indulge personally as a collector, though the jury is still out on the quality of the products.
Have you tried out the Rocket League toys yet? Are they good value for money, or could they improve on quality? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
