In an announcement on their official website, Quake Champions’ developers told players that the arena shooter will be moving into Early Access on August 22nd. Having been in Closed Beta since April of this year, it’s about time for the game to come out to a more public audience. Let’s talk about everything we know.
First and foremost, with the news of Early Access, Quake Champions has also included a new hero to be added to the roster. It is the one and only DOOM Slayer from the DOOM series. Along with the new hero, there will also be new maps, new challenges, voice chat, and plenty more. All of this will be available in a free update when the game fully launches at a later date. If you want to play in Early Access, though, there’s a bit of a catch.
Quake Champions Early Access may come with “a whole host of content” but it’s going to cost you. Anyone who wants to play in Early Access must purchase the Champions Pack for $29.99, $10 off the final retail price. Remember that Quake Champions aims to have a free-to-play version once it launches so all you’re really paying for is the extra content which includes:
- All current heroes plus the new DOOM Slayer
- All future champions to ever be put into the game
- An Early Access exclusive skin for Ranger
- And three loot chests containing in-game cosmetics
Anyone who played in the Closed Beta can still play Early Access and will have the opportunity to pay for the Champions Pack for access to the exclusive skins and whatnot. Those who didn’t get the chance to play in the Closed Beta will either have to pay for the Champions Pack or wait until the free-to-play version releases.
