PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness just became available over at Steam. The game is an adaption from the popular thriller anime Psycho-Pass. The game was developed by MAGES. Inc. in collaboration with 5pb. and published by NIS America, Inc.
The story of the game is set in a future where every person’s mental and emotional outlook on the world is quantified. This means that anything from mental breakdowns to criminal behavior is being recorded at all times. This is then utilized in order to lead the people to happiness. The term for this value is Psycho-Pass.
There’s a very important component to this value, and that is the Crime Coefficient. The Crime Coefficient is a number that represents the possibility of a particular person to commit a crime. Using this value, the detectives that are after criminals can choose to engage those criminals if their Crime Coefficient number is too high. Because of the way this system works, detectives can recognize what makes an individual pop under pressure, and using this technique they can sniff out suspects and find out the truth behind any crime. The detectives are made up of Enforces and Inspectors who work in pairs in order to maintain peace throughout society. Meanwhile, all of these detectives pursue this work while attempting to remain mentally stable and healthy themselves.
The game begins in the year 2112. Divison 1 has just received two new detectives, Nadeshiko Kugatachi and Takuma Tsurugi. You play as these two, and their fate is in your hands, because every single one of your decisions has serious side effects. Different possibilities and endings await you in PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness.
