The Pokemon GO phenomenon may have passed, but there is still a massive player base if you look at how quickly the tickets to Pokemon GO Fest sold out. Speaking of the Pokemon GO-centric convention in Chicago, some exciting news came out which pertains to it today. In a trailer released on the official Youtube video, Pokemon GO announced that they will indeed be releasing legendary birds into the game.
The trailer, in typical Pokemon GO fashion, is pretty epic. It starts out slowly, showing off the newly added gym badges and mechanics, and then out pops a peculiar-looking egg which hatches into a Lugia. Then comes Zapdos and all our favorites hatching from eggs in nearby gyms much like regular raids players are already familiar with.
With these legendary raids, however, it looks as though players need some kind of new pass or invitation to participate. You may acquire these by being in proximity to the gym housing the legendary egg. But none of this will matter unless the fans attending Pokemon GO Fest catch enough Pokemon to make the bird appear, and then defeat the first ever legendary bird at Grant Park in Chicago on the 22nd of this month.
If attendees are successful in their battle, then legendary birds will start appearing all over the world in gym raid battles on Saturday. If the trailer is to be believed, it will likely take an incredibly large group of trainers to take a legendary bird down. It will be incredibly rewarding, if only for bragging rights, since legendaries cannot defend gyms.
For anyone still into Pokemon GO, this is massive news. Players have been awaiting the release of legendary birds since the game’s release. If you’re one of those players, be sure to check out the official statement on their website for more information.
