PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has already revealed that it will be introducing vaulting and climbing to the game, something that has been heavily requested by fans.
The details regarding these new features has been detailed in the latest developer blog, with a statement from the PUBG Development and Community Team stating:
Crossing and scaling obstacles may intermittently create many new tactical options available to the players. The standard jump feature can be used in standard situations, but there are many areas where it does not suffice. After all, PUBG features a play area of considerable proportions.
It’s easy to see why the team would be implementing such features, not only because of the sheer size of the map, but also with there being a number of different objects which vary in shape and size. This in turn can cause issues players who rely on fast movement when traversing over boxes and containers, hence the introduction of the vaulting and climbing mechanics coming in.
As expected, this feature will allow players to scale obstacles they come across. The initial plan was to enable the mechanics for up to a meter high, which has now been increased to 2.3 meters. The majority of static objects will be able to be scaled, providing they meet the criteria of being high and wide enough. It will certainly make for a handy feature, giving players ultimately the best maneuverability in order to keep themselves alive whilst becoming more efficient at hunting down their opponents in the heat of battle.
