Player-vs-player combat is a mainstay in many MMOs and MMORPG’s, in fact, it’s for many one of the most fun parts of the game as you get to put your skills against actual people and not controlled computer characters. However, there can be downsides if the gameplay structure of the PVP matches aren’t handled right. This seems to be the case with Albion Online.
Simply put, one of the ways your character advances in Albion Online is through a “Destiny Board”, which is how you learn skills, and become a master in your class. However, you cannot grow your skills, and earn abilities on the Destiny Board through PVP combat, and furthermore, your masteries can’t be improved by that either. Instead, it’s rooted in the Player-Vs-Event gameplay, much to the chagrin of many players.
For them, it’s not fair that this progress is so limited, especially when you consider how many players love doing PVP combat, again, it’s one of the best ways to enjoy the game, and they LOVE doing it! So, why can’t the game allow for growth through the PVP gameplay?
Now, apparently, there was an attempt to give the players such a thing in the Alpha version of the game. But apparently, it “Didn’t work”, which is no doubt why it’s not anywhere to be seen in Albion Online. However, as games and MMOs like this are updated all the time, it would be very odd if the team behind the game didn’t at least consider doing this.
What do you think? Should PVP gameplay be used to help advance ones character in the game? Let us know in the comments below!
