For MMORPGs, there’s always going to be a question of, “What else is there to add?” And to be fair, that’s a legitimate question. After all, we know that in many MMORPGs, expansions and patches will allow players to fight new monsters, take on new bosses, raid new dungeons, go on new quests and more. So, what is there left to put in the game? Well, a recent common theme is player housing, and some World of Warcraft fans think that this should possibly come in a future addition to the game.
This thought arises from Battle.net, where player Lilsy notes a video (seen below) that outlines how World of Warcraft could put the function in the game. But the question is, “should it be added as part of an expansion?”
This is tricky, because while it’s true that some people would no doubt want it, others likely won’t. And something of this scale would take a lot of time and effort depending on how it’s delivered. Lilsy has a solution to this though:
“I really would like it if this could became a extra “side” expansion, so Blizzard can put a new team on it without have to worry about the teams that are creating the new big expansion.”
It’s an intriguing thought, and one that could work if done right. As an “extra” expansion, it would mean that anyone who just buys that expansion would get the player housing, and thus it wouldn’t be forced on others.
Naturally, the World of Warcraft fanbase is divided on this. Some see this as a fun addition to the game, while others think it’d just be window dressing.
“Im torn. On one hand player housing would be pretty cool, on the other we could wind up with an empty world coz everybody is sitting in their Garrison *cough* erm house!” notes players Sunbrew.
So what do you think? Should World of Warcraft add player housing? If so, in what form? Let us know in the comments below!
