The question of buffing or nerfing characters is a constant one in Overwatch, as every single champion you can play as is often scrutinized to an incredible degree by players. What makes it interesting though, is that rarely can the community agree on what to do (except for Roadhog, but that was a special case) and so the debates rage on. For one Overwatch player, he knows that a lot of players have mixed feelings about the character Pharah, so he decided to get opinions on what should be done.
Basically, a lot of people think Pharah should be nerfed. Whether it be because she’s too powerful, too tough, or some other reason. But as Battle.net player RageQueen notes, there’s also a lot of players who think Pharah is fine on her own, it’s only in other circumstances (like being teamed up with Mercy) that make her unfair.
To help decide which fan theory is more populated, she made a poll (that is still available to vote on at the time of this posting) for Overwatch players to vote it out. And in an update, revealed that more players are saying Pharah SHOULDN’T be nerfed, and by a pretty big number.
But that doesn’t mean the debate got settled. In fact, the Battle.net topic only got more intense as both sides debated whether Pharah was fine, or needed to be taken down a peg.
For many, Pharah is a threat to much of the roster:
“A character that makes like 25% of the roster completely irrelevant and only becomes manageable if you have one of a few hitscan characters (while hard countering characters like junkrat and torb) is not fine,” notes player Borshevar.
Others though think a simple addition can weed out the Pharah problems, and that doesn’t involve nerfing:
“Pharah doesn’t need a nerf. She just needs a harder counter,” notes NooneSpecial, in reference to a new character made to counter her skill.
What say you? Should Overwatch tone down Pharah? Or keep her as she is?
