Yesterday was a big day for the Payday franchise. Starbreeze studios have acquired the full rights to this game. For those who do not know, Starbreeze is a publisher, independent creator, and distributor of some high-quality entertainment products.
There is a lot of money involved, but the most simple way we can put it is that Starbreeze made a great deal with 505 Games. From what we’ve seen, they are retroactive, starting May 1st, 2016 taking all the revenue earned via Steam for Payday 2. On the other hand, the revenue from the Payday 2: Crimewave edition will be split between 505 Games and Starbreeze.
Additionally, the Starbreeze studio plans to make Payday 3, but will support the Payday 2 for at least another 18 months to see it fully grow into an outstanding game. Let’s just hope the game won’t change too much. And for now, let’s just enjoy our heists as we normally do, until further notice.
