One of the most beautiful things about video games is that the inspiration for the titles they make can come from anywhere. And that even means that it can come from established properties and titles. For example the Pathfinder series, which is a role-playing game, and a long-standing alternative to Dungeons & Dragons. Well, the team at Owlcat Games loved this series so much that they wanted to make a video game RPG out of it. So, they contacted the owners of Pathfinder, and asked if they could do it. They said yes, and now Pathfinder: Kingmaker is on Kickstarter.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a single-player isometric RPG that is set in the realm of Pathfinder, so it’s an all-new adventure in the world that will already be familiar to fans. The team takes inspiration not just from Pathfinder, but also from Baldur’s Gate, Fallout, and more. Their hope is that when it’s done you’ll feel the fun and joy of making your own character, adventuring through a major world, and seeing how the world reacts to the decisions you make.
They have nig expectations for the game. They lay out that the game is 40 hours strong just for the main story, but then when you add the sidequests, it’ll grow to 80. In addition, they state that there’s 100 monsters you can fight, 10 different classes your characters can be, and 7 different races that you can meet and interact with.
And of course, if they raise enough money, they’ll unveil stretch goals. They already have a few ideas, which as you’ll see on their Kickstarter page. The goal for the game is $500,000, and it’ll be live until July 11th. So don’t miss out on your chance to see the Pathfinder world brought to life video game style in Pathfinder: Kingmaker!
