With numerous changes being constantly made to the Overwatch heroes on the roster, there is always the question of who is going to be under the microscope next. One that some players would like to see improved is Reaper, who’s lack of changes have made him a shadow of his former self, according to some.
As highlighted by Battle.net user Nox, Reaper’s counters have been buffed, with the community member going on to list the following culprits:
Theres is nearly no Chance to scratch a Pharah. Soliders Damage-Output is ridiculous, he shreds everything, without high risk, like Reaper. Good Tracer/Genji laughs about the clunky and slow Reaper. With the Bastion-Buffs, Reaper becomes even more useless. Roadhog is still overbuffed, his spread got reduced, so his shotgun is even more deadly. Still easy Reaper-Hook-Combo-Oneshoots, with the reduced spread, you sometimes even don’t need the hook to kill a Reaper.
The post continues to urge Blizzard to change a character that hasn’t been touched since launch, also citing his lack of mobility skills compared to other DPS heroes. Responses to this suggested that Reaper’s movement speed should be increased, which would be an understandable change. Given that Reaper is a close-range hero, speed and mobility is key for something like this. Some allude to the hero only being useful whilst being speed boosted by Lucio, whilst his ineffectiveness against Roadhog is also highlighted, which is as much of a criticism for Roadhog than it is for Reaper, with the tank character seeming to “overshadow everyone”.
