The developers of video games often try fun ways to connect with the community. Now sure, given how technology works nowadays, they can simply go to places like Reddit or other community sites and try to make chat with others who play there games, but there are other ways too. Take for example, Overwatch, who recently celebrated a one-year anniversary of life, and wanted to show their appreciation to fans by giving away some really cool prizes. As it so happens, the grand prize winner wanted to show it all off.
The Grand Prize Winner for this competition was Reddit user IKyZah, who personally went to Reddit and posted pictures of his winnings. Now, lest you think that this was done in arrogance, not so fast. He admitted how lucky he was to have won, but also:
“i also wanted to show that someone does actually win these giveaways, for people like me that might have been skeptical =P”
Anyway, his prizes for winning were an Overwatch BlackWidow Chroma, an Overwatch ManO’War TE Headset, an Overwatch DeathAdder Chroma and an Overwatch Goliathus Extended Mouse Mat. Not a bad haul huh? The Reddit users seem to like it, and many came out to congratulate IKyZah on his victory. Just going to show that this was done with honest intentions, and players are grateful for him showing the prizes off.
The interesting thing here also is that the anniversary giveaway is apparently the first of many to come in potential. Blizzard wants to continue to reward players for their service and making Overwatch one of the most popular games around, not just recently, but of all time. The game rocketed to popularity almost immediately, and the constant updates have made it very hard to put down.
If giveaways like this keep happening? It’ll definitely continue.
