Crossovers, one of the most beautiful parts of the video game world. When characters, levels, items, or anything from one game end up in another. There are entire franchises that are crossover titles, and small scale crossovers happen all the time. Blizzard, for example, is known for their takes on crossovers. They have Heroes of the Storm, which is their own crossover title. And World of Warcraft has parodied and spoofed famous characters and storylines to have their own little mini-crossovers. Although unofficial. So, could their newest IP Overwatch be next on their list?
The Overwatch community sure hopes so. Now, they admit that having full-on character crossover is unlikely, and would actually hurt the game. Their solution? Characters skins! That’s right, skins/outfits that would dress the Overwatch heroes as various characters from Blizzard’s vast library.
“I would love to see some skins incorporated from other blizzard games, especially WoW. I’d buy some lootboxes to get them.” -Thatwannabe
The Battle.net Overwatch community is certainly behind this, as numerous fans let their thoughts and suggestions be known. These include a Kerrigan Widowmaker, an Illidan Reaper, a Jaina Mercy skin, Terran Soldier 76, a Raynor themed McCree, a Witch Doctor skin for Zen and much more.
“Honestly I’m praying that blizzard actually sees this thread and takes a look at all these great ideas from their player base.” – Mvee
Ironically enough, this isn’t too far out of the realm of possibility. Blizzard has already made character skins for the champions for holiday events like Halloween, Christmas, and the recent Chinese New Year. So them making skins based on StarCraft, World of Warcraft, or Diablo? That honestly wouldn’t be too hard for them.
