In games that have items that you get randomly, there is a saying, “The RNG gods are with you…” or they aren’t. As sad as that sounds, it is rather accurate. For in games like Overwatch where items and skins are gotten through Loot Boxes, or simple titles like Fire Emblem Heroes where you have to “summon” a hero and pray you don’t get one you’ve gotten twelve times before, the RNG gods are either with you…or they aren’t.

For Overwatch players, the slight struggle to get the skins they want has only increased via the Uprising event. As players wanting a particular new cosmetic, have to hope that the RNG gods are on their side. Battle.Net player SwissArzt is finding out the hard way how hard that is to happen:

“Have any of you had any luck with the Uprising loot boxes? I feel like I have bad karma or something of the sort,” he notes to his fellow Overwatch players.

Now to be fair, he has gotten some of the new skins the Uprising event offers, including the Bastion Null Sector skin and Widowmaker’s Talon skin. And even notes how he got both blue items and white items (though for some reason white is more in abundance), but for him, he just wants the Mercy skin from the event. He’s opened 28 Loot Boxes and has gotten it yet.

Other players shared in his pain, some even revealing that though they get legendary items, it’s ones that don’t matter to them:

“I’ve gotten quite a few legendaries, but most of them have either been cash, dupes, or stuff for heroes I never play (I’m looking at you Hanzo),” says player LuckyPants.

Of course,  there are plenty of Overwatch players who HAVE gotten everything they wanted, and more. Some even state that the only things they’re missing are some sprays and a skin or two. This is just the way RNG works. It’s for you… or against you.
