There’s a lot of good things to say about Blizzard’s Overwatch. The game has over 35 million+ players overall, it gets consistent updates, and Blizzard seems determined to keep it active and relevant, even opening up their own esports league for it. But, that doesn’t mean the game doesn’t have problems. And when you’re trying to make a game competent and reliable across three very different gaming systems, problems are bound to occur. But for some players recently, it’s really become a problem on consoles.
In the case of Redditor Gonions, the situation is so bad on their system that the game is basically “unplayable.” Which of course is something no developer wants to hear. It’s not just them either, their friends have also been having issues. Mainly, the game will take multiple tries just to connect to a game, and then not be able to do it because other players “haven’t connected.”
Now, before you start calling them names, they did follow the proper procedure. They contacted Blizzard via both Twitter and the Overwatch forums run by Blizzard, but they’ve gotten no response, and this “glitch” for lack of a better word has been going on for days now.
Many Redditors replied to their post and offered their own tales of connection woes. Not surprisingly, location is a big thing when it comes to Overwatch. If you’re not in the right country, and you don’t have a great internet connection, you can pretty much count yourself out of getting any matches. Many though report that Gonions “glitch” is also happening to them.
To be fair though, there were also other players who said that they don’t have this problem. Which means it could be a random bug, or one designated by location, or maybe even servers, it’s unclear at present.
Hopefully, Blizzard will see this post and try to remedy the situation.
