The fans ask for it, and Blizzard delivers! For fans wondered if Overwatch, the successful new title from Blizzard, would get the Lunar Event/Chinese New Year themed update, much like many of their other titles, including Heroes Of The Storm, have gotten. And it appears it is the case.
As revealed on Twitter, Overwatch will indeed become a part of the Year of the Rooster celebration. Also, as promised and teased by Blizzard, Mei was has gotten a new outfit to show off the new event. Now, at present, there isn’t anymore information about fans should expect, as the tweet mainly focused on the video itself. However, with the arrival of the Chinese New Year less than a week away, it’s fair to say that Blizzard should have something that reveals all the new details soon.
But, what do the fans want? After all, they asked for a celebration inside Overwatch like the other Blizzard titles, with a bunch of new content.
One of the big ones they already got with a new costume for Mei, one that was much better than her Christmas one. Though other characters like D.Va were also requested to get new outfits to match the event. This one seems very plausible, as Blizzard usually doesn’t limit new skins to one character. Another big thread was that the characters shoot fireworks instead of bullets. While this may cause problems in gameplay, you have to admit…it’d be kind of fun.
