The esports world is a very large and intricate thing. And sometimes, it can be very hard to get into, as you have to go through tournaments, build up your reputation, be recognized as one of the best, and so on and so forth. For Overwatch, you’d think it’d be the same thing, especially since it’s a team game more than anything else. But Blizzard knows that there are a lot of good contenders out there, so they set up the Overwatch Contenders League, and it’s about to come back.
The Overwatch Contenders League is pretty much what it sounds like. It’s an open invitational tournament that allows up and coming players to team up and battle it out to not only earn their stripes, but a cash pool prize of $100,000. Not bad for a “breaking in” tournament, huh? Well, the tournament itself is about to start soon.
Overwatch Contenders is back and packed with talent!
🗓️ Season 1 begins August 19.

Season 0 was started a little while back and helped set the stage for Overwatch Contenders, but Season 01 is about to begin on August 19th. 8 teams will duke it out on that day, and then as the season progresses, the teams will slowly whittle each other down.
But there’s more than just the $100,000 on the line here, though obviously that is a big motivation. You see, there are going to be a lot of teams coming to the launch of the Overwatch League. And so there’s a need for roster spots to be filled. The organizations soon to be part of the Overwatch League will have their eyes on the players of the Overwatch Contenders tournament.
The links above will let you watch when they go live. Who will win? Watch and find out.
