Blizzard has announced they will be suspending the Overwatch Contenders player Dafran for violating Rule 7.0 (conduct), which states that “All competitors and spectators are required to act in a respectful sportsmanlike manner at all times.”
Dafran, a member of the Overwatch Contenders team Selfless, will be suspended for the violation as of yesterday, in which Blizzard will block the player’s access to Competitive Play for the rest of season 5, as well as blocking access to his current Overwatch accounts for one week.
Furthermore, Dafran has been disqualified from Overwatch Contenders Season Zero, and will not be able to compete in Season One. The player has too been banned from all future Blizzard-sanctioned competitions during the current competitive season, though Selfless are still able to compete by substituting a different player in.
Dafran’s ban has been implemented following some rather tasteless behavior on the streaming platform Twitch, where the Soldier 76 and Tracer specialist has engaged in inappropriate activities such as griefing and showcasing pornographic imagery into streams. Having originally appeared to show little remorse in a rather expletive response to the situation, Dafran did acknowledge his actions and the potential impact on his team:
I am starting to REALIZE my actions may be affecting my org, teammates and their careers… time to reform into Seagull V2 and be a cute little nice guy FeelsBadMan. Troll community, disband…. 🙁
Selfless meanwhile responded by offering to help the player in any way they could, by taking steps to get him the help and support he requires.
