There is a bitter war that rages in the world of video games, it is one that has been around nearly since the beginning and has grown with each advancement in technology. It all revolves around a single devasting question: PC or Console? This is a real thing, as for years now there has been a fight about whether PCs or consoles are the best places to play games. And titles like Overwatch are getting dragged into this war because it’s playable on both.
Apparently, the hate in this war (in regards to Overwatch) is so strong that some are saying that not only is the PC version superior in every way, but that no professional player is on consoles. This has made several players in the community angry, and on Battle.net, player Ostinato set the record straight:
“Personally playing both I can say it’s annoying and not true that one is better, in fact, I like both equally.”
He also noted that there have been pro Overwatch players who have come from consoles. They may play on PC now, but that was for reasons other than superiority. So, who is right here?
Each system, just like each player, is different. PC has the potential for better graphics, sure, but unlike consoles, you need to upgrade it at times, whereas consoles you know that every game you play (barring a hardware glitch) will play on that console. As for control schemes, that’s very much up to player preference. Some prefer the freedom of a keyboard or mouse, while others like the controllers of the Xbox One or PS4.
Everyone can choose where to play Overwatch, and that’s their right. The game has sold well on all of them, so there’s going to be plenty of people to play against, and that’s the main goal of the game.
