Overwatch Announces New Map with Junkertown Cinematic

Blizzard certainly knows how to break news. Overwatch, the massively popular competitive shooter, announced that a new map will be coming to the game soon and paired the news with a cinematic staring everyone’s favorite pair of scoundrels, Junkrat and Roadhog.

The cinematic is a bit of a Looney Tunes-esque episode in which Roadhog and Junkrat get kicked out of Junkertown and spend the rest of the video trying to figure out how to get back in and exact revenge. It’s a cute little cinematic, one which really shows off the relationship between the two characters. It was followed shortly after by another video showcasing the new Escort map in Junkertown on the Overwatch Youtube page.

The video is narrated by the apparent Queen of Junkertown as the camera pans over shanty city. According to the video description, Junkertown is “now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the known as the Junkers.” It also adds that “the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive.” We see this Scrapyard in the video and it certainly looks somewhere people might fight to the death.

overwatchFrom the comments on the Junkertown map video, it would seem as though people are relatively excited about the new addition to the game. Some people are even speculating that the queen may be the next hero to be implemented in game.

Another addition to the Junkrat and Roadhog dynamic would definitely be welcome. The internet loves the two Junkers and their friendship, so finding out more about them through their queen could be just what players need.

Are you excited for the upcoming Junkertown map? While there is currently no release date, it looks pretty polished from the trailer. Let us know your thoughts on that and the brand new cinematic down below in the comments. And if you want more Overwatch, check out our last article about the fan-made rap video.
