Given that the ‘P’ in PTR stands for Public, there may have been some confusion as to why some players aren’t being granted access to the Nercromancer beta in Diablo III. This beta has now been confirmed by community technical support that it won’t be open to the public after all.
Responding to the post “PTR PARTICIPATION” on the Diablo III forums, technical support member MissCheetah replied with the following when the question was raised as to whether or not the Necro beta would be open to the public:
“In the future for free patches? Sure.
For the Necro Beta, no, there are no plans for an open public test. This is paid content that is being tested in a closed (invite only) beta, just like the beta tests they have run in the past. If they change their mind they will post it on the front page of the website.”
Given that it involves paid content, Blizzard often opt to make these particular tests closed to the public. There are methods of participating in invite only beta tests, however. If you are interested in taking part, be sure to opt in for beta testing on your Blizzard profile in Account Management, and go on to select which beta you would like to be a part of. As long as you have an active account and aren’t suspended or banned, you’re good to go.
This doesn’t guarantee you’ll get yourself a place, but its the best possible chance you’ll get to take part.
