Given the nature and theme of Diablo III, you probably wouldn’t expect to find Halloween events going on at the appropriate time of year. Or perhaps you might think that this is even more reason for Blizzard to indulge in the holiday, and take the opportunity to make the game even darker.
Regardless of which side of the fence you fall on, it looks as if Diablo III won’t be breaking the usual habit of not having a seasonal event at this time of the year. Not that it wouldn’t be cool to see, especially after we saw the introduction Junkenstein’s Revenge in Overwatch last year, which could have bucked the trend for the fellow Blizzard series going forward.
There were hopes for other members of the Diablo community, though these were put to bed pretty earlier on by MissCheetah, who is usually the bearer of good or bad news on the particular platform. MissCheetah responded:
“Blizzard does not do Seasonal events in D3. They feel it does not fit with the game world I guess. The most we ever used to get was a buff that gave extra XP or something like that but they stopped doing that as well.”
The Diablo community on Battle.net doesn’t tend to receive replies directly from developers as often as some of the other Blizzard franchises, so the word of the technical support MVP is the best we can hope for the majority of the time to confirm or deny anything related to the ARPG. For now, it seems as though the game won’t be celebrating Halloween, though it’s pretty much Halloween all year round in Sanctuary anyway.
