Making a game is hard, but then comes the harder part, showing it off. If you have a great game, and don’t show it off, why would people buy it? This is a problem for major publishers like Nintendo too, as they want their games to be known by as many people as possible. So they do things like Nintendo Direct, or, they go to conventions like E3. But sometimes you need to go outside your comfort zone and go even bigger and better. Nintendo appears to be doing just that.
Why? Because at this years San Diego Comic Con, Nintendo is going to have a major presence. They have been at the conference before, but they’ve never really gone “all out.” After all, it’s supposed to be a comic book convention, so games are often times relegated to smaller booths and areas. But Nintendo is going to try and buck that trend this year.
As Twinfinite notes, the Big N is planning on having a major SDCC both, one that will feature Super Mario Odyssey as a playable demo. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re then going to go to the Marriott Marquis & Marina and transform one of the ballrooms into a “Nintendo Paradise.”
This paradise will have plenty of gaming stations for both the Switch and the 3DS, as well as the 2DS XL. Games you’ll be able to play will include Mario, Splatoon 2, Pokken Tournament DS, and much more. Adding even more to the fun, Nintendo will be having some special tournaments where you can win prizes like the SNES Classic. Cosplayers are welcome as well, as competitions will be had for those too!
So, if you’re going to be at SDCC this year, you should go check out all that is in store.
