Those who were anxiously anticipating the Nintendo Switch made sure to get their hands on the console as soon as it launched. GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, and plenty of other American retailers sold out of the coveted console within mere moments.
GameStop released a statement about the popularity of the console, and that this was one of the biggest launches they’ve ever had. It should come as no surprise, as Nintendo really maxed out the marketing potential on this one, showing off practical application of the console’s handheld mode, as well as plenty of games to take advantage of the incredibly creative portable hybrid.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has received some incredibly vocal praise from most of the press. Some websites have even cited the game as the best Zelda title ever made. Even the party titles like Snipperclips and 1+2 Switch have been receiving praise for their intuitive design and ability to be played in numerous scenarios.
That being said, once again, as is often the case with Nintendo, supply fails to meet demand. A lot of Switch consoles were released, and yet, just as many were sold to consumers. Now many people are taking to sites like Amazon and eBay to sell the console at a mark-up.
If you’re interested in purchasing a Switch be patient, as Nintendo’s marketing team has already confirmed that they’re increasing production over the next few weeks. Do you already have a Switch? Are you planning on getting one? Sound off in the comments below.
