The fourth game in the Sword Art Online series of video games, Hollow Realization releases worldwide and amasses critical acclaim on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms.
A successor to Sword Art Online: Lost Song, Hollow Realization (published by Bandai Namco) takes place three years after the events of Sword Art Online. This time, Kirito and his friends dive into Sword Art: Origin, a new VRMMORPG taking place in a recreation of Aincrad called Ainground. Supervised by Reki Kawahara–the original author of the Sword Art Online light novels–, Hollow Realization chronicles an original story with loved characters fighting alongside Kirito, such as Asuna, Silica, Sinon and Leafa. The world is populated by over 300 NPCs and, on top of that, players can journey together with three other adventurers in the exclusive multiplayer mode, providing an experience never before seen in the universe of Sword Art Online.
Taking hints from MMOs such as FINAL FANTASY XIV, the game is being advertised as the ultimate single player MMO experience. And with good reason! The striking graphics and fast paced gameplay remain true to what fans expect of a Sword Art Online game, while the tactics and common MMO elements, such as raiding, make it feel like an authentic online game. Players can fully customize their character with options ranging from name and gender to body build, hairstyle and color, skin tone, and voice. Special types of quests known as “Event Fragment” will make seasoned MMO players feel more at home, as they work quite like FFXIV‘s FATEs and Rift‘s invasions. The icing on the cake is the combat, which mixes elements from God Eater (also published by Bandai Namco), Dragon’s Dogma and Phantasy Star Online–most notably the original, released for the Dreamcast and Windows PC, and Zero, released for the Nintendo DS.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is available now worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Vita.
