Bethesda’s Quake Champions is a first-person arena shooter currently in beta. The title is, indeed, a part of the Quake franchise that many gamers grew up with. Periodically, the developers release trailers for the playable champions in game and today we got to see the human-hunting Sorlag.

Sorlag is, as you can see, definitely not human. According to a post on the Quake Champions website, she was trained from birth to hunt and kill “warm-bloods.” She was mistreated by her clan and fell into our world by accident with years of pent-up hatred and bloodlust. The video itself is just under a minute but we can get a sense of the kind of champion Sorlag is.

Her first ability, called Acid Spit, is pretty much what it sounds like. Sorlag spews acid in her enemies direction, leaving the floors and walls it touches covered with dangerous ooze. Anyone hit by Acid Spit will take the initial damage, but the real fun starts a little later when the toxicity hits them, dealing damage overtime. Anyone unfortunate enough to walk over the acid left on the ground will also be hit by her poison.

Sorlag has two passive abilities called Bunny Hop and Acid Fiend. Bunny Hop allows Sorlag to pick up tremendous speed while jumping in one direction, while Acid Fiend makes her completely immune to acid damage. That means she can walk through her own Acid Spit and the spit of an enemy Sorlag.

Quake Champions is currently in closed Beta but you can sign up for a key on the official website. If you already play Quake Champions, what do you think of Sorlag? Is she a solid champion or will you be sticking to someone else.  Let us know! And if you want more Quake, why not check out the last champion trailer we covered.
