Monster Hunter is a very interesting gaming franchise. On one hand, it’s uber-popular in Japan, which isn’t surprising per se because the game was made by Capcom. But there’s just something about it that makes the franchise special there, it sells millions of copies every time it releases. But in the West, and other parts of the world, the effect isn’t as profound. It sells well, for sure, but not to the desire that some may want. So, Capcom decided to make a Monster Hunter game that’s unique to how the West likes to play their games. Thus was born Monster Hunter: World.
Make no mistake though, this is a pure Monster Hunter game, it just has certain touches to make it more appealing to those outside of Japan. For example, unlike in previous games, the world is all connected. So if you want to go from one area to the other, there will be no loading screens awaiting you.
Also, you can use certain things to affect the environment, and even lure in monsters. Speaking of which, Capcom showed off a couple new videos today for Monster Hunter: World. One of them is below.
As you can see, not only is the game beautiful to look at, but you can also tell just how epic the game’s battles are going to be. Not to mention that the world is truly alive, as two monsters are going at it while you’re waiting for a clear shot to take them both down.
This is the other part that makes Monster Hunter: World so special compared to other games in the franchise. The team really wanted to make this world feel alive, even going to great lengths to make AI better so that it felt more real.
The game will release on January 26th, 2018 for Xbox One and PS4.
