The Nintendo Direct this past Thursday bore many fruits. From a port of Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, to a brand new Pikmin title, there were quite a bit of major announcements. Perhaps my personal favorite, was the announcement of a major Legend of Zelda 30th anniversary celebration.

Source: PolygonOne of the biggest announcements in this anniversary reveal, is the upcoming launch of a new wave of Legend of Zelda amiibo. These figurines will cover all bases, from the original Legend of Zelda to Ocarina of Time, and even a few Wind Waker figures.

They look incredible. The original Zelda amiibo of 8-bit Link resembles the 8-bit Mario figurine released a few months ago.

Alongside this release, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was released in its original form on the Wii U Virtual Console, following the presentation. Lastly, some more DLC for Hyrule Warriors: Legends was showcased. The Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass pack will come with the Toon Zelda character, who fights by possessing one of the Guardians.

From increasing character rosters to new incredible figurines, or even an opportunity to revisit an old gem, Nintendo is treating The Legend of Zelda like the royal family it truly is, and celebrating one of the company’s most momentous milestones.
