Breath of the Wild The Master Trials

DLCs are very tricky things, because there’s many types of content that can be defined as DLC. For example, some games just give out maps in packs, or new weapons. Meanwhile, others include massive expansions of the game through story modes, items, and more. It really depends on the publisher what they want to do. For Nintendo, their first DLC for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was called The Master Trials, and it did indeed expand the game, but not all are happy with everything included.

For starters, a lot of people think that some of the special items in the game should’ve been in the game at launch. Players cite items like the Korok Mask, or the Traveler’s Medallion, which really do help with traversing the world. Then there’s the Trials of the Sword and the new Hard Mode. Most think they are good, but some question it, such as Reddit user ColdCaption, who wishes the harder difficulty had been better:

“I was really hoping they’d treat it like a New Game+ and let you carry over all of your upgraded gear and inventory slots (because the idea of grinding koroks and materials again is a huge turn-off).”

It is true that you have to restart your adventure for Hard Mode, and that could indeed be a huge letdown for players. ColdCaption felt it would be cool to see what the game would be like with a harder difficulty, yet you have almost everything you had from your previous run through to help you out.

Other players weighed in too, noting the Hard Mode in The Master Trials could’ve been done differently to increase the challenge. There were suggestions such as nerfing the Champions Powers, increasing the harshness of certain weather, and more.

Do you think the Master Trials could’ve been done better? Let us know.

I am a writer, reader, dreamer, and believer that games and cartoons and comics aren't a bad way to live. I am passionate about what I love, but do respect the opinions of others when they conflict with my own. But if you don't like Nintendo, you're going down! lol
