TennoCon is the second annual convention for the free-to-play sci-fi shooter, Warframe. The convention was held on July 8th in London, Ontario, and featured a number of panels, activities, and contests. By far the biggest piece of news to come out of TennoCon, however, goes by the name Plains of Eidolon.
In this 17 minute gameplay demo, players were shown a colony of people determined to make Earth hospitable again. Warframe’s official website tells us that this colony of NPCs will have quests for us to do, items for us to purchase, and lore to uncover. For the first time in game history there is a 3×3 kilometer open-world map to explore and quest through.
Archwing now also has a purpose outside space missions as a mode of transportation throughout this open world. Much like a mount, Archwing takes players across the map at incredible speeds to get to other destinations, but it can also be used in combat. We also very briefly saw a form of spear fishing during the demo, and a short mission against some Grineer soldiers who set up a camp outside the colony walls.
The open world will also include a full day/night cycle which ties into a new type of gameplay also announced in the demo. According to the devs, during the night, enemies will be harder to defeat. In addition to this, there will also be massive boss monsters to deal with as a sort of raid with your fellow Tenno. This bit of gameplay was implemented for those veteran players who claim the game is far too easy. Of course this raises the question: what happens to low-level players when night falls?
As heard in the demo, the community seems incredibly pleased with the announcement of the Plains of Eidolon. Are you excited for this update? Let us know!
